Rembrandt van Rijn (1606–1669), etching/ hardwood hand finished frame
Rembrandt created some 300 etchings and drypoints from about 1626 to 1665. His career as a printmaker ran parallel to his career as a painter—he rarely treated the same themes in both media and on only occasionally did he reproduce his paintings in prints. Above all, he was a great innovator and experimenter in this medium, often handling traditional materials in unconventional ways. His impact on printmaking is still reflected in etchings produced today.
Warsaw Park by Marek Drozd, oil on canvas, restoration and custom framing, Private collection, Newton, Massachusetts
This beautiful Impressionist painting is an image of the park our client used to play at when she was a child. A special painting deserved a special framing solution. In order to set it apart from other framed artwork in the house and, at the same time, use the most appropriate frame molding, we created a three-piece frame. The first frame wrapped around the canvas is 1 ½” raised above the level of a custom fabric liner and the outside frame. The canvas commands more attention and the overall impression is of a three-dimensional object.
